In this role, he will, among other duties, review scientific and program committees, adopt updates and revisions to the strategic plan, and review and approve policies and actions necessary for the continued operations of the organization. In addition, Kennedy will serve on the NCRP finance committee, charged with developing the council’s operating budget.

Chartered by the U.S. Congress in 1964, the NCRP has been collecting, analyzing, and disseminating information regarding public radiation protection for the past 50 years. The council consists of 100 voting members who serve 6-year terms and are elected for their scientific expertise, as well as a policy-making Board of Directors of nine members. Kennedy has served two consecutive terms on the Council; this is his first election to the Board of Directors.
