NV5 - Radiation Dose Reconstruction EEOICPA

Department of Energy Radiological Data

NV5 is part of the Oak Ridge Associated Universities team supporting the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health radiation dose reconstruction project being conducted in support of the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act of 2000. The Act provides compensation and medical benefits to eligible workers (or certain survivors if the worker is deceased) for illnesses related to exposure to radiation or other toxic substances while employed at Department of Energy, its contractor, or subcontractor facilities.

As part of this effort, NV5 estimates occupational radiation doses for current and former nuclear workers who have submitted claims under the Act. We conduct exhaustive technical, scientific, and historical research and collect, compile, and review historical radiological data to help develop technical bases for the evaluation of claims. We also document site radiological environments and operational radiological program practices and perform technical assessments of contaminated sites.

Results from the completed dose reconstructions ultimately are provided to the claimant and the U.S. Department of Labor for use in adjudicating claims filed under the Act.
