Patriot Place Roof-Mounted Solar Array

NV5 provided engineering design services for a 625,000W roof-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) array on 7 buildings of property known as Patriot Place in Foxborough, Massachusetts. This project was part of an on-call contract.

Patriot Place is an open-air shopping center built around Gillette Stadium, home of the New England Patriots (NFL) and New England Revolution (MLS).

The roofs include Buildings D, E, F, H, J, K, and the Hall of Fame in the North Retail Marketplace. The array consists of 2,556 205-watt modules mounted at a 20° tilt facing south. The design uses 26 DC Combiner boxes and 7 Inverters. The solar panels will generate approximately 625,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity every year, which makes up about 30 percent of complex’s energy needs.

The facility is comprised of 7 individual and independent roof-mounted systems with capacities as follows: Building D = 100kW; Building E = 75 kW; Building F = 100 kW; Building H = 75 kW; Building J = 100 kW; Building K = 75 kW; and Hall of Fame = 30 kW.
