NV5 is providing on-going dry utility services (electric, natural gas, and telecommunications) infrastructure and design on this high-visibility project in San Diego. This was a complex project because the current SDCCU stadium will remain in service while building and transitioning into a new stadium, then the Mission Valley site will be redeveloped into a new community and San Diego State University satellite campus.
Specifically, NV5 is performing the utility system master planning, final utility system design and coordination, street lighting engineering and design, and management during utility installations and energizing.
Using our knowledge of the appropriate utility relocation and line extension rules, as governed by the California Public Utilities Commission, we were able to creatively apply design methodology and rule applications that will significantly reduce the utility company’s costs by over 50% of what was budgeted by San Diego State University, while still creating utility designs that met each utility company’s approval.
