Tom Knauss
A technology industry veteran of over 40 years, Tom brings extensive consulting, design, and project management experience in the fields of acoustics, sound, video, structured cabling, and related technologies. His ability to forge close relationships with clients and effectively communicate the vision for a project has made him a highly sought-after member of countless teams. Tom began working as a sound system designer with renowned acoustician F. Gerald Marshall and his firm Marshall/KMK Acoustics in 1998. Following twelve years working with Marshall/KMK Acoustics, Tom took over the KMK brand whose notable projects date back to 1971. Always looking for a new challenge, Tom now brings his years of technology consulting experience to NV5. His project work spans a variety of markets including hospitality, performing arts/theaters, higher education, corporate, and cultural/museums.
Timothy Ross Waters
For over 24 years Tim has served as thought leader, designer, and manager with the discipline, zeal, and expertise required for programming, design, and construction oversight of advanced projects involving sophisticated technology and acoustic requirements. Utilizing his project management and collaboration skills, he assembles and leads teams to help navigate clients through significant technology changes to align spaces, infrastructure, and systems with business and pedagogical objectives. His passion for performing arts, unified communications and telepresence technologies is matched by his persistence in seeking best value solutions for his clients. Tim has been instrumental in maintaining and growing our business west of the Rockies and beyond. He can often be heard performing as a lyric baritone singer and pianist, or seen on the weekends camping, hiking, or skiing in national parks with his wife, son, and daughter.

A nationally-recognized thought leader, Nancy is an award-winning educator who brings over 20 years’ experience in virtual learning, simulation environments, and faculty development. With a life-long calling to motivate students, coach teachers, and create transformative learning environments, Nancy’s award-winning programs and techniques enable teachers to use classroom technology effectively to maximize student success. A former Teacher of the Year and Executive Director of NASA’s Challenger Learning Center, Nancy designed and launched the first space simulation delivered through technology. A project manager for a college in the southwest says of Nancy, “My experience with Nancy was amazing, and it helped to bridge a gap towards my ideas of future classroom design.” With teaching at the heart of all Nancy enjoys, she spends her spare time playing with her grandchildren.

While it may be hard to believe she’s already done well over 200 projects spanning Higher Education, Healthcare, Corporate, Civic, Museums, Hospitality, Broadcast, Performing Arts and Theatres across 16 countries, it’s easy to understand how her appreciation of client priorities — and attentive follow-through — makes her a sought-after consultant.
Norman Russell
For over 30 years Norman has been recognized as one of the country’s preeminent stage, studio, and lighting designers. He has worked on projects for hundreds of clients including ESPN, the NFL Network, ABC, NBC, Fox, Paramount Pictures, Coca Cola, H.J. Heinz, University of California, Princeton University, United States Military Academy at West Point and Caesar’s Palace. He has outstanding production experience in theatre, broadcast television, video and film production and has contributed creative planning and construction supervision services on a wide variety of performance spaces. A senior project architect says of him, “Norman is an excellent team member. His experience, insight, and commitment on challenging projects helps us create outstanding venues.” When he’s not working, he and his wife are busy creating their estate grown, extra virgin Joёlle Olive Oil.
Mark Grassi
Mark’s extensive knowledge of designing and commissioning large-scale, custom audio, visual and broadcast systems has served clients well, from challenging corporate assignments for the likes of Google, Samsung, SAP and Under Armour, to some of the most advanced medical simulation facilities, command and control centers, theaters, and performance spaces in the US. In addition to previously serving as Senior Design Engineer, Systems Engineer and Project Engineer for a series of nationally-renowned integration firms, he also spent six years as an audio engineer and lighting designer for the multi-stage performance venue World Café Live in Philadelphia. Personal experience includes designing for numerous government agencies (including the Department of Defense, where he has held Top Secret clearance), plus a long list of Fortune 100 companies, hospitals and institutions of higher education.
Mark Gillis
For over three decades Mark has demonstrated unparalleled expertise as a media systems designer, sound engineer, systems contractor, technical director, and operations director for large-scale, technology-intensive projects. He has significant experience in the design and integration of sophisticated audio and lighting systems for projects such as “Disney on Ice,” having designed and installed systems for 300-city world tours. He was Director of Audio Production for Ringling Bros. Barnum and Bailey’s Circus worldwide for 8 years which has translated into his exceptional ability to oversee large sports and recreation projects such as the University of Cincinnati’s Fifth Third Arena remodel and multiple sports venues at Penn State University including recent upgrades to both Beaver Stadium and the Bryce Jordan Center. He has managed projects for both public and private higher education institutions, hospitals and medical centers, boardroom expansions, market operations centers, network and security operations centers and corporate training facilities. Mark can occasionally be found on the weekends mixing a number of local bands just to keep his “ears” in tune, working in his garden, or out on the golf course if the weather is nice (or even not so nice).

His credentials span dozens of high-visibility clients, such as TD Ameritrade and SAP, and includes Fortune 500 companies and headquarter offices for financial, law and advertising firms. Greg’s extensive portfolio includes consultation on millions of square feet of corporate, higher education, multi-use, high-end residential, hospitality, institutional, and government projects. When not running between his kids’ sporting or social events, Greg enjoys outdoor activities, including golf, tennis, biking, and skiing as well as time around the grill preparing “good eats” for family and friends.
