Township Nine recently won the Best Real Estate Project Community Impact Award from the Sacramento Business Journal. The outstanding $38 million infrastructure project, developed by Nehemiah Corp. of America, featured the work of contractor Otto Construction, architect Jacobs Engineering Group Inc., and engineering firm NV5 Inc.
The project, part of a sixty-five acre urban infill development site in Sacramento, is located next to the American River. A modern light-rail station is the design centerpiece and the only completed building on the site. The station was constructed using bricks and trusses from a former cannery at the site, and includes inscriptions from Ronald Reagan, Mark Twain, and Joan Didion.
Despite the lack of buildings, the judges thought the high-profile project already deserved an award for community impact according to the Sacramento Business Journal.
Design elements include a water park, an outdoor amphitheater, landscaped paths and sidewalks, along with a direct 1.5 mile connection to the state Capitol. The project is scheduled for completion in 2018.
The NV5 team provided entitlement engineering and mapping, roadway design, construction support services, along with bidding assistance, surveying, hydraulics and hydrology, and a drainage master plan.
