Arena

The 400,000 SF expansion of the Georgia International Convention Center features a sports and entertainment arena that seats 3,500 patrons for basketball games and 5,000 patrons for other events.

During the expansion, acoustical treatments were completed due to issues with aircraft flyover noise from nearby Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The project included a detailed study to assess how the interior of the facility was impacted by these noises.

Long-term noise monitoring was performed by NV5 at the project site to gather detailed data about the acoustic signature of the flyovers. A comprehensive acoustic analysis was then performed to study the impact that aircraft flyover noise had on the interior of the building.

To achieve appropriate background noise levels inside the facility during events such as concerts, sporting events, monster truck events, plenary sessions, and other large-scale events, various envelope enhancements were developed.
