NV5 provided LEED commissioning services of the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for the 4-story, 120,000 sf Capital Judicial Center. In addition, NV5 performed a comparison analysis for alternative energy return on investment (ROI), analyzing two different systems for ROI and payback.

LEED for New Construction and Major Renovation 2009 v3 helped this project achieve LEED Gold Certification.

The facility combines the Augusta District Court, Kennebec County Superior Court, and family court, and includes six separate courtrooms that previously were housed in three different buildings in Augusta. The building also includes an office building for the court’s Office of Information Technology and the Administrative Office of the Courts.

Systems commissioned include: air handlers, boilers, chillers, chilled beams, emergency standby power, elevator recall, energy recovery units, fire alarm, fuel oil system, generator, lighting control, and occupancy sensors. NV5 also facilitated the building envelope services for this project.
