NV5 provided civil engineering services for the expansion of the 55-acre power center on ‘H’ Street at Broadway in Chula Vista, California. The developer added a multi-cinema complex, a pharmacy, a 41,000 square-foot retail store, and a parking structure for 671 vehicles.
NV5 guided the design and approval for the parking lot reconfiguration; demolition of older buildings on site; utilities and storm drain upgrade and relocations; grading and paving for the expansion and demo area. NV5 also coordinated the activities of sub-consultants, including landscape/irrigation, and site lighting consultants. Documents provided for the project included topographic survey; boundary adjustment; grading plans and permits; water improvement plans and easement documents for Sweetwater Authority; specifications; site plan; signing/striping plans; and utility plans.
The project was complicated by the need to phase building around peak shopping months and therefore to phase wet and dry utilities, and storm drain routing. NV5 provided building staking, mapping, and topographic survey for the project.
