As an extension of Turfway Park in Florence Kentucky, Churchill Downs Inc. created a new 42,000 SF facility in the nearby Newport Plaza Shopping Center.
The facility has a 17,000 SF gaming floor featuring 500 HRM machines and a simulcast room. Simulcast rooms are used for the simultaneous showing of horse races across multiple screens. Along with the previously mentioned areas, the new facility also includes restaurants, bars, and administrative offices.
After opening, Churchill Downs Inc. made the decision to expand the facility by 14,000 SF. The expansion includes a separate gaming area for smoking only, another bar area, and an entertainment area with a stage for live entertainment and promotions.
