The Fertizona San Tan facility was a former agricultural chemical distribution facility located in the San Tan Industrial Park south of Chandler, Arizona, on the Gila River Indian Community (GRIC). The site was used for the distribution of bulk and packaged agricultural chemical products starting in 1977.
Site assessment and remediation activities included soil sampling (including drilling); asbestos and lead-based paint sampling; special building material sampling; selecting an environmental laboratory for a specialty soil sample analysis (glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup); the demolition and removal of large storage structures, concrete pads, and a septic tank; and regulatory classification and disposal of investigative derived waste (IDW).
NV5 produced a multi-volume project report that was accepted by the GRIC Department of Environmental Quality, and the site was closed.
