The area along Hillsborough Street in Raleigh has seen a flurry of student housing projects recently as enrollment at N. C. State University (Go Wolfpack!) has grown. The property at 105 Friendly Drive is a great example of a developer maximizing the available land to create a mixed-use facility geared primarily to student housing tucked in close to the university. This four-story, steel framed structure, which was built in 2016, has restaurants on the street level and apartments above. Soil conditions were generally suitable for this site, as verified by our construction testing. Other services that NV5 performed included concrete quality control testing, verification of structural steel connections, testing of fireproofing materials, and testing of pavements. The project team worked quickly to get the building online in a short time frame as the school year was approaching.
