This renovation project was part of a larger District-wide Master Plan Bond Program for which NV5 provided Program Management services to the Roaring Fork School District (RFSD). Prior to executing the District-wide Master Plan, RFSD had approximately 1,028,000 SF of facilities on 271 acres on the Western Slope. The program is comprised of 23 projects, including the Glenwood Springs Elementary School Renovation.
This project consisted of the demolition of an existing classroom/cafeteria/kitchen facility, a 28,000 SF renovation of an original 1921 elementary school building, and the construction of a new 55,000 SF facility including 21 new elementary school classrooms, a media center, an Early Childhood Education wing, a cafeteria, a kitchen, and administration offices. It also included a new site circulation plan for buses, parent drop off, and parking, in addition to a new playground and playfield areas.
NV5 worked with the school district and the Colorado Department of Education to provide tailored Owner’s Representative services for the pre-construction, construction, and post occupancy phases. These services included developing a schedule and phasing plan to complete the project on time while minimizing disruption to students. NV5 also procured all project team members, managed the design coordination, facilitated contracts, provided cost control, and managed construction. In order to ensure transparency and engage the community, NV5 assisted in organizing a series of Design Advisory Group meetings, community meetings, and open houses to obtain community input on the design, while maintaining RFSD goals and values. The project was completed on time and on budget.
