UMass Amherst Integrated Sciences Building

Over the course of six years, NV5 managed all planning, design, and construction activities for a new laboratory building for the UMass Amherst Chemistry and Life Science Departments.

The 156,000 square foot building houses three floors of academic lab space, one floor of flexible research space, a 350-seat auditorium, classrooms, office suites, and a computer resource center. This project also included the construction of a new district chilled water plant and distribution piping to provide chilled water to the numerous campus buildings in the region.

The LEED-qualifying project features a number of green building design initiatives, including a rainwater reclamation system and an elaborate, passive solar structure that shades the atrium curtain wall.
