University of Kansas Hospital’s Central Utility Plant

NV5 served as the Owner’s Project Manager for The University of Kansas Hospital’s Central Utility Plant replacement project.

Project components included a new electric utility service point-of-entry and primary distribution line-ups, new municipal water service and fire-sprinkler connections, fire protection pumping capacity, boilers for steam generation and associated distribution equipment, production and circulation of chilled water, and a medical compressed air system.

One of the most critical aspects of the project was the final systems testing, and bringing the plant on-line in the final six months of construction. The plant was successfully tested and assumed the hospital’s utility loads without a loss of service from any of the utilities.
