NV5 provided safety oversight and programmatic support to Verdis, prime contractor to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Walla Walla District, during replacement of the powerhouse vertical lift door at the McNary Dam. The existing door had been installed in 1949.
NV5’s expertise helped ensure the safety and health of staff and subcontractors during the high-hazard work required on this USACE project.
Specifically, an NV5 Certified Safety Professional served as the full-time Site Safety and Health Officer during Verdis fieldwork. Responsibilities included conducting safety meetings, establishing a Correction Action Program, maintaining an inventory of chemicals, and conducting daily health and safety inspections. We also supported Verdis’ safety program by reviewing or creating three safety documents: the Accident Prevention Plan, Activity Hazard Analysis, and Fall Protection and Prevention Plan.
