Medlar Field at Lubrano Park

Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, a recent addition to Penn State’s “athletic campus,” is part of a collection of facilities that rival any Division I school in the nation. Located within the walls of Lubrano Park is a unique environment mixing leisure with education and providing a technology rich facility that helps propel the Nittany Lions baseball team towards the conference championship.

The facility is a new state-of-the-art 6,000 –seat baseball stadium providing all the perks of a Major League Baseball field inside a Division I school. Once inside the ballpark, fans enjoy a high-quality electronic scoreboard capable of displaying scoring information along with graphics and motion video.

The main audio system provides even coverage through the primary seating areas of the ballpark delivering quality play by play action for visitors. The loudspeaker system is mounted under the roof of the skybox level seating. A 2,500 square foot press box can accommodate traveling and local media and has private broadcast booths for up to three radio teams. In addition, a “fish bowl” observation room is situated directly behind the press box to allow for aspiring sports broadcast students to watch the media in action.

Mid-Atlantic Construction magazine named the new Medlar Field at Lubrano Park its 2006 Project of the Year in the category of sports as part of its Best of 2006 awards recognition.
