NV5 provided MEP/FP/Telecom/AV/security engineering for Boston Dynamic’s new facility, an innovation hub supporting the brand’s rapidly growing engineering, marketing, and research & development teams. The three-level, 180,000 SF office and laboratory facility was built inside an existing space to accommodate the firm’s rapid expansion.
Specialized spaces include electronics labs, fabrication, interior and robotic testing labs, engineering/repair area, demonstration areas, conference rooms, board room, collaboration spaces, exhibit/museum area, and a data center. Workstations, offices, and conference rooms overlook open-plan robotics labs, connecting the team to the work throughout the building. Physical and visual connectivity throughout promotes cross-pollination, collaboration, teamwork, and helps to inspire ideas and innovation. Office and meeting spaces, a fitness room, café, and a multifunctional town hall further those connections.
The NV5 team worked with the client to design integration of separate building systems such as HVAC, lighting, electronic security, and audiovisual systems to achieve smart building use cases. The robust AV-IT infrastructure ensures network efficiency and a disruption-free workflow. Custom audiovisual control software maximizes user experience by delivering consistent, intuitive, and reliable User Interface (UI) control of the various AV systems.
