The Center for Advanced Heart Care includes state-of-the-art imaging, diagnostic, surgery, telemetry med-surg, and intensive care nursing units. The free-standing, five-story Heart Center is joined to the existing hospital facilities at the first two levels by pedestrian connectors.
The building program also included a new main entry; renovations within the facility; two levels of below-grade parking; a new emergency department; public waiting, education, and meeting areas; and site, roadway, and infrastructure improvements.
The need to develop a planned Vertical Expansion was initiated several years before originally anticipated. This expansion added 32 acute care beds and 20 ICU beds, conferencing and education areas, and associated infrastructure improvements. The existing building was kept in continuous and uninterrupted use throughout the expansion.
