Under the oversight of the California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC), NV5 characterized 44,000 cubic yards of mine waste rock and 20,000 cubic yards of processed tailings at the 26-acre Spring Hill Mine site located in the historic Grass Valley Mining District.
NV5 performed predictive human health risk assessment per DTSC and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency standards, considering multiple exposure scenarios, and evaluated the potential risk to water quality pursuant to Regional Water Board guidelines. We also performed an engineering evaluation/cost analysis (EE/CA) analysis pursuant to requirements of the National Contingency Plan (NCP), prepared a community profile, and developed public participation procedures pursuant to the California Health and Safety Code.
