NV5 provided all soils, construction materials testing, and special inspection services on the new Oxnard Desalination Plant while working closely with management firms Kennedy/Jenks and Black & Veatch.
Dubbed “GREAT” for Groundwater Recovery Enhancement and Treatment, the plant was designed to increase the city’s water supplies, particularly during droughts. The filtration system is designed to treat about 5,000 acre-feet of water a year.
The desalter is built with a capacity of 7.5mgd (expandable to 15mgd), and uses advanced energy-efficient brackish water reverse osmosis membrane technology.
