San Rafael City Schools hired NV5 to provide full solar consulting services for two of its elementary schools. Over the course of four years, NV5 completed a feasibility analysis, conducted a competitive procurement process, supported project implementation, and provided ongoing asset management.
During the tariff optimization analysis of the solar systems, NV5’s Asset Management team identified a reduction in demand that allowed both sites to qualify for a more beneficial utility tariff. The solar arrays will now offset between 94% and 97% of the District’s bill and save an additional $102,000 over the next 4 years on the optimized tariff.
NV5’s Asset Management team also identified that San Pedro Elementary School had not been placed on the NEM tariff and was not getting credited for excess generation. NV5 worked with the utility to get the District a $29,000 bill credit. The District’s initial return on investment for NV5’s Asset Management services is 224%.
