NV5 provided commissioning services for the science research center at the University of Texas in Austin. The Norman Hackerman Building houses state-of-the-art classrooms and teaching labs for organic chemistry, research labs for faculty in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, the Center for Learning and Memory, the Institute for Neuroscience, and administrative offices for the School of Biological Sciences.
Commissioning was no small task for the Norman Hackerman Building. All lab spaces in this facility are BSL1 teaching labs except for the Vivarium space classified as a BSL2 lab. The BSL2 Vivarium space is approximately 22,000 GSF. Preparation for the certification took many months.
Throughout this effort, NV5 monitored construction and installation to identify concerns or noncompliance issues that could adversely impact the certification process.
