Aerial Photography and Aerial Photogrammetry
Orthoimagery has an extremely broad range of applications, particularly when collected with state-of-the-art digital systems. Our vast complement of assets includes large format cameras with simultaneous 4-band collection and impressive 3-inch pixel resolution. This level of detail is an essential input to NV5 Geospatial’s high-accuracy auto-classification and objection recognition procedures. We also fuse orthoimagery with lidar data to extend visual interpretation and spatial analysis to the end user. Overall, through the use of aerial photogrammetry and aerial photography, we strive to provide the most stellar geospatial analysis to our clients as possible using advanced orthoimagery.
Orthoimagery Defined
An orthophoto is an image representation of the surface that has been corrected for camera distortions and elevation changes in the terrain surface. We offer natural and 4-band orthorectified imagery, collected with state of-the-art digital systems at customized pixel resolutions and scales. Our high-resolution imagery supports precision aerial photography and aerial photogrammetry and advanced analytics through data fusion with other remote sensing data technologies such as lidar.
Orthoimagery Applications
Digital orthophotos have been used for decades to produce image-based maps for design and construction. Our custom aerial photogrammetry and mapping and visualization tools can provide critical information for clients in many sectors. These include land use planning, environmental assessment, planimetric feature extraction, urban planning, watershed management, and asset management.
Technical Capabilities of Aerial Photography
In time, we continue to see considerable growth in many areas requiring high-resolution, high- accuracy data capture using aerial photography and aerial photogrammetry. We understand the benefits of developing sensor packages that can acquire all data in a single deployment. With no commercial availability of sensor packages with the ideal combination required – dual look lidar, RGB and NIR nadir imagery, forward and rear looking oblique imagery, and video – we embarked on configuring our own sensor packages to meet those needs. Learn more about our CLASS sensor packages, which provide a cost competitive solution for multi-sensor applications.
