NV5 provided comprehensive mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), fire protection, telecom, and electronic security system (ESS) design for an emergency department renovation/addition for Cape Cod Healthcare. The modernized and expanded facility has improved patient comfort and enhanced clinical treatment practices.
Cape Cod Hospital’s Emergency Department is one of the busiest in all of New England.
The new 25,000 SF single-story addition was designed to house new and existing mechanical systems with a fully enclosed partial roof penthouse for MEP equipment. All systems were designed to DPH standards. NV5’s specialized building system design includes heat recovery (using 100% outside air) within the waiting/visitor and triage areas. In addition, the design of a decontamination suite enables emergency staff to swiftly treat biological/chemically compromised patients on site, thus eliminating the threat of contaminating other patients being treated.
Renovated space includes the existing 14,500 SF lobby, waiting, nursing, and clinical support spaces.
