NV5 - Interstate 80 Bike and Pedestrian Bridge

Interstate 80 Bicycle and Pedestrian Bridge

The Interstate-80 bicycle/pedestrian bridge at the West Drainage Canal is an important link that will connect North Natomas and South Natomas and will serve the region as a major non‐motorized route from the Natomas area to downtown Sacramento. The project provides a new 750 feet cast-in-place pre-stress box girder bike and pedestrian overpass over I-80 including a 140 feet steel pre-fabricated bridge across an irrigation canal.

NV5’s scope of work involves complete construction management services including resident engineering, preconstruction services, coordination, scheduling, inspection, materials testing, shop drawing submittal review/approval coordination, project records, project record drawing (as‐built), and Caltrans-required closeout documents. Construction management and administration services to be provided include all construction activities undertaken by outside entities in connection with the project, as well as the monitoring and implementation of all permits, utility relocations, and agreement provisions associated with the project.

Project access is heavily restricted due to the entire construction site located within the Giant Garter Snake Habitat.

NV5 provided the following: bridge embankment import and lightweight aggregate backfill, shored excavations and temporary falsework, driven concrete piles full freeway closure with COZEEP, 750 CIP PC/PS box girder bridge, 140 feet steel prefabricated bridge, May 1 – Oct 1 environmental window, drainage systems improvements, RD1000 levee improvements, landscaping, and bridge lighting.
