NV5 provided MEP/FP/Telecom engineering design for a new 58,700 SF, three-story academic building addition that includes general classrooms, a large lecture hall, a student services center, veterinary classroom/labs, medical training classrooms, and administration offices.
Unique features of the Allied Health Sciences Building include a lead-lined x-ray equipment room, special acoustical treatments, energy recovery, enhanced envelope performance, roof-mounted photovoltaics, and high-efficiency mechanical and electrical systems. The parking capacity was also increased by 140 spaces.
This facility is the Commonwealth’s first zero net energy (ZNE) building. This means that the building will utilize zero net energy consumption and emit zero carbon emissions annually.
