This new limited access expressway, approximately 21 mainline miles long, connects SR 417, completing the beltway around northwest metropolitan Orlando.
Acting as prime engineer, NV5 provided highway engineering design, utility coordination, surveying services, and public involvement assistance on Section 3A of the Wekiva Parkway for FDOT District 5. This section of the project involved the reconstruction of 2.08 miles of SR 46 from east of Vista View Lane to east of Round Lake Road in Lake County into a 6-lane divided urban roadway. This section provided a raised median, three travel lanes in each direction, bike lanes, curb and gutter, and sidewalks. The scope also included adding turn lanes at the signalized intersection of SR 46 and Round Lake Road. Additionally, grade adjustments were made to Round Lake Road.
In addition, NV5 provided substantial design survey services and subsurface utility location surveys, as well as utility coordination, as a subconsultant on teams for Section 3B, which included SR 46 and the interchange at US 441 in the City of Mount Dora in Lake County, and Section 5, which is the CR 46A realignment from SR 46 to 0.04 miles north of Arundel Way. Finally, NV5 provided utility coordination for the line and grade of two sections. These sections are from west of Old McDonald Road to Seminole County Line and from Lake County Line to east of Rinehart Road.
