An open letter to our clients and partners

To our Quantum Spatial Clients & Partners,

As we together face the challenge of the COVID-19 global pandemic, I wanted to reach out to update you on Quantum Spatial’s planning and continued ability to support your important mission as our valued partner.

First and foremost, as I am sure is the case with you, the safety and security of our employees, their loved ones, and the communities in which we operate will continue to be our top priority. We respect, and are in full compliance with, local and national level government protective measure guidelines regarding the COVID-19 outbreak. Doing our part to “flatten the curve” of community-based transmission is a responsibility that we take very seriously.

We are fortunate to report at this writing that we are operating at full capacity across our operations, from data acquisition through production and value-added analytics. We hope that you and your teams are also holding up well and staying safe during this global pandemic crisis.

As news of the COVID-19 outbreak emerged, nearly a month ago, we started planning for the possibility of a US outbreak. Over two weeks ago, we activated our Business Continuity Plan which includes a specific response action framework for a pandemic. Since that time, our Senior Leadership Team has been meeting almost daily to manage our response. Our local leadership teams have implemented as many safeguards as possible to ensure continuity of operations and the safety and welfare of our employees. Serving the mission of each of our clients remains a top priority, as does Quantum Spatial’s role in supporting family incomes and the economy in general.

As North America’s largest and leading remote sensing and geospatial analytics solutions company, we are uniquely positioned to continue supporting our clients at this difficult time.

All of our available aircraft and sensors are currently operational and deployed on projects. Our sensor and platform fleet, in combination with our partnership network, remains active and engaged. Of course, we are taking extra safety measures in our field operations and crew travel procedures to protect our staff and ensure continuity. So long as the government guidelines and general health and safety conditions allow us to do so, we will continue to support all of our project commitments. Last year QSI collected more topographic and topobathymetric lidar than any other firm in North America, and we will do our best on your behalf to exceed that volume and velocity again in 2020.

Our data analytics and production teams are also hard at work. Although travel restrictions affect these teams less, appropriate social distancing is our focus to maintain a safe environment. Through secure remote access, shift work and flexible hours, our team of over 400 geospatial data professionals across seven global locations continues to work on your behalf. Quality, timeliness and data security will continue to be our priorities as always. Our workforce is already tech savvy and adept at remote collaboration — we will continue to deliver if it is technically feasible.

Today we are operating at full capacity, but it is possible that one or more of our locations might have to reduce operations significantly due to a localized outbreak or additional government-imposed restrictions. We have contingency plans in place to shift work to other QSI locations or to remote work sites. If we do suffer a degradation that will impact a project, we will advise as soon as possible. Our investment in IT infrastructure and distributed operations as a nationwide business should serve us well in these challenging times. Thank you for entrusting us with your business.

I also want to mention our financial strength and stability, as is the case with our parent company NV5 Global. We are prepared to weather this global crisis from a health and economic perspective and come through stronger and smarter than we were beforehand. We also plan to support our small business partners as best we can. We know this is a particularly difficult time for them.

On a personal note, I want to share with you how proud I am of our Quantum Spatial professionals. To a person, all are committed to helping our clients, each other and our communities. We are focused on the tasks at hand but also planning for whatever challenges tomorrow may bring. I am not surprised but very impressed. Many of you have close relationships with our team members, and although we may not be able to see you in person, we are here for you. Please do not hesitate to reach out.

Wishing you health and prosperity in the coming days and weeks–respectfully,

Peter B. LaMontagne

President & CEO
