This rich, accessible database is invaluable for daily management efforts; however, the importance of having robust information available at our fingertips is often taken for granted. The 2017 hurricane season is a grave reminder that having up to date data is essential to provide the best preparation and response for catastrophic coastal events. Right now, the remote sensing industry is providing information to aid rescue and recovery efforts for both Hurricane Harvey and Irma.
